Crostini stands for “little toast” in Italian. They are brushed with some olive oil and crisped in the oven enough to add some savory toppings on them. The first time I actually ever had a crostini was during my time in Italy, and ever since then my obsession for them grew. I went ahead and decided to try out some fun and different toppings that I’ve never had before. I’ll list the ingredients I used for my toppings but feel free to get creative with yours as well. The fun of a crostini is that the topping possibilities are endless!
Ingredients:
1 baguette sliced
6 oz – 15 oz container of Ricotta cheese
6 oz goat cheese
Chives
Basil
Lemon zest
1 radish sliced thinly
1 pair sliced thinly
A few walnuts
A couple black berries
1 hard boiled egg
Fig Jam
A slice or two of prosciutto
A few blueberries
Basil thinly sliced
Honey for drizzling
Steps:
Set oven to 350 degrees
Slice baguette in about 1/4 inch slices
Lay out on rimmed baking sheet
Brush both sides with olive oil and season with salt and pepper
Bake for 15-20 minutes, rotating Crostini once during baking
Let cool and then serve with toppings of your choosing
